Pokemon Go!…F**K Yourself!

The zombie like nature with which the Pokemon mafia roam the streets since it’s smart phone incarnation resembles a scene from a PG rated version of Dawn of the Dead.

Oblivious to their surroundings, these newcomers float around the outdoors heads down, hands furiously tapping their screens at a speed that has not been seen since little Jimmy was caught on the family computer making clandestine late night visits to X-rated websites.

An unwanted eyesore to those who have been enjoying the outdoors Pokemon free prior to 2016 may be too harsh a statement, but as they stand in clusters catching their precious pokemons one is caught between incredulity and fascination at this sudden evolution of human behaviour.

The counter argument that an outdoor world that was hitherto unbeknown to many has now been opened up is a valid one, but one I will not countenance.  That people who previously were spending their spare moments glued to the sofa are now roaming the fields, parks and streets of our fair planet is more a nuisance than a benefit.

The outdoors are there to be enjoyed and to be appreciated.  Whether you are jogging, walking, relaxing the general idea is that you take in your surroundings, converse with your companion and delight in the sights and sounds around you. Alas! this is not the aim of the Pokemon player!

Catching their fictitious characters and advancing another level is the sole reason for Pokemon players being outdoors, if all the Pokemons to be caught suddenly moved to shopping centres and underground car parks, the game playing masses would gravitate there without hesitation!  Chatting to their walking companion, appreciating the surroundings does not even elevate itself to being a side issue!

For people who have not a care for their surroundings and wish to exercise, the world has an invention called the gym, for people that wish to walk with their friends and not speak, but would rather stare inanely at their phone screens, well it’s just weird and shows a stunted growth in social skills, and maybe an indication you should stay indoors after all.
